Single Molecule Magnets (SMMs) display characteristic slow relaxation of the magnetization at low temperatures and have the potential to store one bit of information on each molecule. These novel magnetic materials have been widely studied, particularly for the next generation computers. Our research focuses on the design and synthesis of pure lanthanide metal clusters with record energy barriers for this application. Moreover, we are also interested in understanding how to self-assemble the lanthanide metal clusters logically in order to further discover novel molecular materials.
