A Brief History of the Department

College of Social Science and Management (CSSM) was established in February 1, 2000 after the spin-off of the Taipei Campus into National Taipei University.  According to the Mid-term Developing Plan of National Chung Hsing University, Graduate Institute of Business and Management at the Master level was established accompanying the commencement of CSSM, and one year later, converted into Graduate Institute of Business Administration.  Undergraduate program was added to the program and transfer to be Department of Business Administration on August 1, 2001, executive program of business administration (EMBA program under CSSM), August 1, 2002, and the PhD program, August 1, 2003. 

 

Education Vision of the Department

1.          Strengthen research and teaching in the field of strategic management to enable students to fit into stochastic business environment.

2.          Breed human resource of business administration by providing theoretical and practitional training in the fields of finance, marketing, production, human resource, information management, and economics.

3.          Expedite training of human resources for service industry.

4.          Cultivating human resources for international business with global mentality and linguistic proficiency.

 

Inter-disciplinary Integration in CSSM

Beside Dept. of Business Administration, there are currently six other teaching units, and two more joining College of Social Science and Management in August 2003:

We have strong linkage among our teaching units and cross-supporting faculty in the CSSM.  Furthermore, we have established strong collaborative relationship with other colleges, research centers, and administrative entities in the university.  These partners include Dept. of Applied Economics in College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Center for Industrial Development Research, Center for e-Commerce, Engineering Development Center, Bio-technology Development Center, Innovation Incubator, and Technology Licensing Office.
